Wired commissioned Jay Brooks to photograph fountain maestro David Bracey getting appropriately wet in the fountain in Granary Square in London’s Kings Cross.

Bracey is the director of The Fountain Workshop, a London based company that has created cutting edge fountains bringing joy, excitement and wet feet to public spaces around Britain and across the world.  Their commissions can be seen in a number of British cities as well as, amongst others, Copenhagen and the UAE. The latest commission is the gamification of the fountains in Granary Square.  The 1080 water jets have been programmed to play the classic arcade game Snake using a smartphone app.  Playtime is between 5pm and 9pm if you fancy an early evening soaking.

To fund an exhibition for their Singh Project, Amit & Naroop have taken to crowd funding website Kickstarter:

“The photographic element of the project has been completed and has been featured on many blogs and websites including the highly respected Its Nice That and Creative Review. It also has a great following on Facebook.”

Singh Project Kickstarter campaign

“Through Kickstarter, our aim is to put on a fantastic exhibition that is contemporary and modern in its appearance, yet rooted in tradition and culture in its substance.

The money raised will be used to:
– Print the thirty five images from the project
– Hire out a exhibition space to display the project
– Print high quality booklets
– Hold a private view event to showcase the exhibition

We have always aimed to raise awareness on topics and issues that we feel passionate about through our work. SINGH is a project close to our heart. A marriage of our faith and skill, it represents our identity as British born photographers and our Punjabi, Sikh roots.”

The campaign runs for another 24 days – an amazing opportunity to support groundbreaking work.  Amit & Naroop are offering some great incentives for those who generously donate, which can be seen in detail on the campaign page, here: http://kck.st/1kkOZ2F

Screen Shot 2013-05-15 at 18.06.44 copy Amit and Naroop have come back with their latest personal project – Only Connect

Only Connect (OC) Central is a creative arts centre and members club for ex offenders and youth at risk. It’s mission is to it’s members; delivering arts projects, social activities and practical support services.

The portraits that feature in this project are of the staff and members of OC, where Amit & Naroop hold mentoring workshops in photography.

“…As their background is in theatre, we stripped down the portraits and used a stage in their building to symbolise their roots in the arts”- Naroop

During the month of August, Pip set out to photograph a series of contrasting urban and natural landscapes. Shot in London throughout the Olympic games he describes his motivation behind the  project …

“Although I love portraiture, it’s always nice to break away and do something completely different once in a while. Despite the unprecedented crowds in our sprawling metropolis, these images are about human absence.”

See the full set of images and read the introduction to Track and Field.

If you’re not already in the know, we think it’s time to introduce you to ‘Record of the Day‘ artist Benga – a dubstep music producer from London – and at only 25 he’s accomplished way too much for his few years.

Amit & Naroop were the guys behind the lens, capturing these colourful and playful images in preparation for his forthcoming album.

Last week the clouds broke and the sun gods were shining as we were on location for the Farah Vintage AW12 shoot with photographer Gavin Watson.

These fine young lads had been handpicked out of 100’s who entered the ‘Citizens of Farah’ Facebook campaign and we were impressed to say the least – cool, calm and unnervingly comfortable in front of the camera – how do they do it!?

This only a sneak peak but we’ll be back with more when the full Farah Vintage AW12 collection is launched.

Farah Vintage are on the hunt for the ‘faces’ of their next Citizens of Farah campaign shoot and asking you to get involved. And better yet, one lucky person will also be offered the chance to be assistant photographer to our very own Gavin Watson.

Citizens of Farah have teamed up with VICE for this very exclusive competition and to get involved all you have to do is post an image of yourself on the Citizens of Farah wall and comment on the your posted image: “I want to hang with Gavin Watson.”

Gavin has shot previous Farah campaigns and  is a VICE contributor so don’t miss your chance to star in and click the camera with Citizens of Farah and Gavin Watson. Competition closes 6th April 2012.

Taking fashion to dangerous heights, Gavin Watson shot this 10 page editorial piece from top to bottom for the French urban, fashion and culture magazine WAD #51 – the top issue.  On sale now.

Having photographed some of the biggest and breaking urban/ hip hop artists of 2011 – Wretch 32, Example, Stooshe to name a few – Amit & Naroop are showing no signs off slowing down for 2012 but they are shifting gear.

Here is just one image taken from their shoot with the sultry Delilah – chosen as one of 1Xtra’s hot 20 acts and MTV Brand New for 2012 – a very talented young thing with stars in her eyes.

Congratulations to our friends at Farah Vintage who this week won ‘Menswear Brand of the Year’ at the Drapers Awards in London. Up against some fierce competition, Farah Vintage pulled off the most coveted honor a brand could strive for.

We’d also like to give a very special mention to SHOOT photographer, Gavin Watson, who has worked with Farah Vintage for the last few years and most recently shot the Fall/ Winter 11 campaign, bringing his iconic style and edge to develop the brand image.

And an interview with Gavin, with his thoughts on his work, his life, being a skinhead and astrology.

This week there’s much a buzz about iconic photographer Gavin Watson – ‘the man responsible for documenting so many facets of British youth culture’ – as quoted in the latest quarterly edition of urban fashion magazine, WAD, which features a profile piece on the man himself in addition to a 14 page spread. Entitled Council Estate of Mind, Gavin proves he’s still got the urban edge.

Then, coming from a completely different spectrum, we read that Henry Holland’s autumn/ winter collection, Pastel Punks, was inspired by Gavin Watson’s photographs of skindheads and punks…cool!

Huge congratulations to Wretch 32, who is now residing rather comfortably at the pinnacle of the charts with his new release “Don’t Go” taken from his album “Black and White”. The cover image was shot by Amit & Naroop for the Tottenham rapper and former Grime Artist. This follows on from his previous release (also with artwork by Amit and Naroop) Unorthodox.

Adele and Paul have embarked on their Chinese expedition. No….not a tour of North Londons finest local eating establishments, but a sojourn east to Hong Kong and Beijing to meet the finest creatives in all the land. The Riders will no doubt be updating us with snaps and news from the trip along the way. Watch this space.

Shoot is proud to announce that photography duo Amit and Naroop have joined the roster. Already renowned for their work with a host of artists on the urban music scene they are currently expanding into fashion and advertising.
