Jay Brooks trained to be a set designer and it’s left a lasting theatrical impression on his photographic style which, combined with his ability to draw a seam of humour from his subjects, has made him a popular choice across the worlds of advertising, TV, film, theatre and music.
His celebrity portraiture has appeared on the covers of some of the UK’s best known publications including Tatler, The Guardian Weekend Magazine, Sunday Times Culture and Time Out and features in The National Portrait Gallery collection.
Jay shoots advertising for Ambassador Theatre Group, The Old Vic and other West End Theatres and for films. He has also shot campaigns for Adidas, Footlocker, Sony, EE, Southern Comfort and Red Stripe.
His personal work leans heavily towards the eccentric featuring amongst others seaside clairvoyants, morris men, line dancers and teds.
